NATIONAL MUSIC CENTRE - VIDEO BUMPER

In the summer of 2017, I was approached by the National Music Centre in Calgary to animate a closing bumper that would be appended to all future online videos for Studio Bell, Home of the National Music Centre. I happily agreed. I began animating the motion graphics after some good storyboarding sessions in close collaboration with Brandon Wallis, NMC's director of Marketing and Communications. It was truly a blast to work on.

The project involved mixing 2D and cel-shaded 3D elements and creating some dynamic visuals. Once the visuals were nailed down, we then approached Jason Tawkin, NMC's Studio and Electronics Engineer to craft a one-of-a-kind sound bed over which the bumper would play. The music you hear in this piece comes directly from one of the rare synthesizers found in Studio Bell. We created two versions, one longform and one shortform and all came together without a hitch. At the time of writing, it's still being used and has become a staple of their brand identity.
